Adult Practices
Children’s interactions with adults, in and out of the home, exert a strong influence on early child development. This section discusses 11 core principles, and associated practices, that can support young children’s self-regulation. These practices help to nurture the ingredients of successful self-regulation, and minimise factors that make self-regulation difficult.
Child Activities
These activities provide children with opportunities to engage, challenge and extend their self-regulation skills. Central to each activity is an appropriate level of challenge and, as children improve, stretch their capacity by making it a little more challenging. In this section we have selected 28 of our favourite activities, which have been developed to be fun, familiar and playful, so you can play them again and again.
